Inaugural Post...

So here it goes, my first post on my new blog...

I have had quite a few really awesome things going on in the past four or so months, and to be honest a lot of it has to do with going against my own personal rule of never accepting friend requests from virtual strangers on Facebook. Going against that rule however resulted in getting to know an amazing person and a talented author who I am now fortunate enough to also consider to be a true friend. J. Travis Grundon, author of the outstanding collection of short stories titled Eclectic Collection, as well as the master mind behind Fracas: A Collection of Short Friction. He extended an offer to possibly include a transgressive short story of mine in the collection and after a few weeks of massive writers block and second guessing myself I started working on a story while sitting in the American Airlines terminal of Los Angeles International Airport while waiting for a flight to Nashville for the weekend to be J. Trav's wedding date. It was a long fun weekend of new friends, good company, and very little sleep. As I waited at Nashville International Airport for my flight back to LA I finished the story and sat on it for a few days before emailing it off to J. Trav almost expecting it to be hated. Much to my shock he enjoyed it enough to include it in the collection, now available on amazon,

It is a gripping collection of very gritty stories that will leave you feeling like you just got the shit kicked out of you and left for dead in some seedy back alley. I am very proud to be a part of such a well written collection and consider it an honor to see my name listed in the table of contents along with some very talented people and friends, J. Travis Grundon, Todd Theroff, Chance Chambers, B.C. Brown, James M. Bowers, and Garrett Calcaterra, as well as editor Stacy Bowers, just to name a few.

For those of you unaware of what transgressive fiction is I am going to take a second to educate you with the help of the wonderful website wikipedia...

"Transgressive fiction is a genre of literature that focuses on characters who feel confined by the norms and expectations of society and who break free of those confines in unusual and/or illicit ways. Because they are rebelling against the basic norms of society, protagonists of transgressional fiction may seem mentally ill, anti-social, or nihilistic. The genre deals extensively with taboo subject matters such as drugs, sex, violence, incest, pedophilia, and crime."

By far the most exciting chain of events to happen to me in a long time. Finally the kick in the ass that I needed to finally start writing again and have been working diligently to keep at it. I have a few things that I am working on at the moment that I hope to see go somewhere.

The other big exciting news that I have is that I finally took the plunge and left the job that was making me miserable and can very proudly say that I am now working for a company that I have a passion for, the products, the people, the image, the name, I love everything about my current employer.

now I am going to revive my favorite blog practice from my old MySpace days...the Likes/Dislikes....yay!!!
